About the Job

The Protection Control & Automation Engineer is responsible for collaborating with clients and internal Schneider Electric stakeholders to recommend and develop electrical power system Protection Control and Automation solutions. This position serves as a technical advisor, developing solutions that meet customer's needs and minimize risks. Typical responsibilities include

  • Develop Scope of Work, proposals, and estimates
  • Identify gaps or risks in the power system protection and control strategies
  • Provide technical advice during pre-sale engineering consulting
  • Educate internal/external stakeholders on technical strategy
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients
  • Train/mentor team members to provide localized support services
  • Execute engineering and commissioning of advanced power system controls
  • Ensures high-quality results, delivered on-schedule, and efficiently executed within margin targets


Minimum Qualifications

5+ years of experience engineering power system automation and controls

Proficient in:
  • MS Office applications
  • Drafting tools (AutoCAD Electrical preferred)
  • PLC and/ or relay programming
  • Sequence of Operations for complex power system control
  • AC/DC control system design
  • Schematic and one-line drawings and panel layouts development
  • Commissioning and troubleshooting complex power systems
  • Developing project scope and identifying project risks (technical, schedule, cost, change order)

    Preferred Qualifications

    Professional Engineer (PE) license
    Estimating experience
    Standards development and training experience
Experience with generator protection, paralleling, load-shedding and synchronization controls

  • Ability to assist employees in understanding project objectives and specifications and see various points of view
  • Strong judgement and professionalism to effectively handle frequent exposure to key decision-makers at the executive level
  • Knowledge of contracting requirements, codes, standards, and construction industry
