Power System Engineering Area Manager
About the Job
Schneider Electric Power Systems Engineering (PSE) is a multi-discipline electrical power engineering consulting group. The group produces power system studies, assessments, and designs. The design engineering specialties includes physical design and the design of protection, control and automation systems.
The PSE Area Manager (AM) is the direct manager for approximately 10 power system engineers. The AM is responsible for the group's operations, and for collaborating with the sales and business development teams to grow the business in the assigned area.
The AM is responsible for setting and managing performance goals and performance reviews and for coaching and correcting behavior to achieve the group's goals. The AM collaborates with the Regional Manager and Power Consulting Specialist to drive strategic growth and leads the safety efforts within the area. The AM collaborates with the regional Engineering Manager to identify and deliver training for direct reports and manages the proposal development within the area.
The AM is responsible for the operational efforts including effective resource management, project management, standards compliance, and project forecasting/backlog management. The AM is responsible for the overall utilization of the engineers in the area, assigning projects to the engineers based on capacity and skills and ensuring that technical and administrative standards are followed.
BSEE and 8 years of experience in power system engineering
Professional Engineering registration
Demonstrated experience in effectively managing engineers
Demonstrated experience with either power system studies or power system protection, control and automation.
Working knowledge of electrical codes and standards
Proficient in MS Office applications
Demonstrated ability to develop project scope and identify project risks (technical, schedule, cost, change order)
Strong ethical behavior and safety leadership
