Acceptance to a position in this job family constitutes participation in the Actuarial Student Program at The Standard.  The mission of the Actuarial Student Program is to grow actuarial knowledge, business acumen and leadership skills in our Actuaries to enable the achievement of organizational goals.  Actuarial students are expected to progress through the levels of the job family based on academic/exam achievements and by developing their analytical skills, independent decision making, and effective communication and leadership skills.

The Standard seeks a talented ASA or near ASA to join our modeling team in our Corporate Actuarial group as their first rotation in our actuarial student program.  In our rotational student program, you’ll be supported in exams towards an FSA designation.  You’ll have an opportunity to learn and grow your skills in modeling and be able to have exposure to other product lines through the corporate work.   You’ll be involved with modeling our assets as well as risk and ALM modeling.

You’ll have a keen eye for detail and the ability to understand the big picture as you model to evaluate trends and question results.

 

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Modeling of assets, risk, and ALM. Prior modeling experience not required but an interest in learning and growing your modeling skills is essential.
  • You’ll collaborate with the modeling team as well as product line actuaries to help develop models where they don’t exist and be part of our center of excellence in supporting product line areas in their modeling practices.
  • Analyze data/trends from your modeling work and share findings with team members and other key stakeholders.
  • Keep an eye to continuous improvement and identify ways to enhance and streamline our
  • Successful study and completion of exams towards an FSA designation.
