Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

Financial Crimes Surveillance (FCS), within Compliance Analytics (CA), is looking for qualified candidates to join an exciting team focused on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) analytics that lead to successful delivery of Risk Management solutions to Wells Fargo & Co.

FCS is seeking two creative, positive, and motivated team members to work in AML Analytics. Areas of responsibility can include:

  • Utilizing internal & external data to provide insights, develop analytical strategies, and provide analytical support regarding a wide array of business initiatives in the Financial Crimes space.
  • Understand and expand the existing landscape of Anti-Money Laundering and counter-terrorist financing surveillance.
  • Partnering with business and technical partners to design and implement analytic solutions.
  • One position will have an emphasis on international surveillance through partnership with the Global Financial Investigation Unit.
  • The other position will carry an emphasis on Wells Fargo Securities, correspondent banking, and ad-hoc developments related to high profile cases.

This job requires use of multiple databases, adherence to internal data management regulations and policies, and adherence to external regulatory bodies and requirements. The candidate will also assist with the documentation of enhancements, model validation, change requests, data access requests, and UAT testing as necessary. 

This position will include working virtually with peers in separate geographical locations and may require periodic travel.

Preferred location is Portland, OR; however St. Louis, MO; Des Moines, IA; or San Antonio, TX will be considered.


Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of SAS programming experience
  • 4+ years of SQL experience
  • 6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling; or a Masters degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling

Desired Qualifications

  • 1+ year of BSA/AML experience
  • Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of analytical methods used in: statistical analysis, modeling, and reporting
  • Knowledge and understanding of databases and data mining techniques
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance requirements surrounding USA PATRIOT Act and Anti Money Laundering (AML) requirements
  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills with ability to turn findings into strategic imperatives
  • Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of research and analysis
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time
