Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk.
The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.
Wells Fargo Compliance is the company’s compliance independent risk management function, providing company-wide leadership, standards, support, and independent oversight to ensure that all front-line business groups abide by applicable laws, rules, regulations and regulatory guidance (regulatory requirements), meet compliance responsibilities, and manage compliance risks. Wells Fargo Compliance credibly challenges management decisions, business processes and activities, and evaluates and assesses adherence to applicable regulatory requirements. It provides appropriate analysis, reporting, and escalation to senior management and the Board of Directors, sets minimum standards for the company, and gives advice, guidance, and support for compliance risk management activities across the enterprise.
Within Wells Fargo Advisors Compliance, the In-Bank Brokerage Group Compliance Consultant supports the Compliance Program for brokerage activities conducted in Bank offices across Community Bank/Wealth Management/Private Banking by providing oversight of the policies and procedures reasonably designed to achieve compliance with applicable rules and federal securities laws and regulations. Responsibilities include monitoring changes in regulatory requirements, advising compliance and/or business management on compliance risk and regulatory issues and providing compliance support for cross-business channel initiatives. The Compliance Consultant must partner with other areas of WFA Compliance which may include those responsible for:
- RSNIP Compliance
- Branch Exams and Surveillance
- Regulatory initiatives, exams and inquiries
- Compliance Advertising and Review
- Discipline and Heightened Supervision
- Internal Investigations
- Pre-hire, Registration and Employees Activities Group
- Product Compliance
- Other Advisor Led Advice and Services Compliance Teams
The Compliance Consultant must also build solid relationships with key Compliance and business partners across Community Banking & Wealth Management to help employ and maintain an effective Compliance Program. As a Compliance Consultant for the intersection of the brokerage and bank business models, it is critical to be able to successfully work within bank and brokerage compliance requirements and to understand how the requirements may overlap or diverge. This includes partnering closely with other business and Compliance team members in support of the Wells Fargo RSNIP program. Requires the ability to provide compliance guidance in a fluid environment and recognize initiatives that may cross over in to bank brokerage areas supported by other Compliance personnel. Initial areas of focus will include Training, Marketing & Branding, Teaming & Compensation, Business Development, Partnerships, Product & Service Enhancements and Communications. S/he must be an effective communicator, strategic thinker and be able to drive initiatives to completion. As a key member of the Advisor Led, Advice & Services Compliance team, the Compliance Consultant will meet regularly with Compliance management and business leaders to achieve program goals and build momentum for longer-term strategic initiatives.

Other Desired Qualifications
- Strong understanding of, and experience with, Brokerage and Banking business models and corresponding federal securities laws and regulations from a control and/or compliance perspective.
- Deep knowledge and demonstrated track record of compliance/risk assessment and ideally familiarity with banking compliance.
- Ability to develop long-term strategic plans in partnership with line of business leaders.
- Ability to translate Compliance policies into actionable roadmaps within the Brokerage and Banking environments.
- Proven experience in influencing and building relationships with LOB stakeholders, Compliance colleagues, internal service providers and regulators.
- Well-developed/proven project management and planning skills. Must be able to execute on initiatives.
