Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

This Compliance Consultant position supports the Wholesale Bank Regulatory Compliance Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Wholesale Control Office (WCo) Compliance Teams . The Compliance Consultant will assist with the implementation of key elements of the Compliance program, including compliance risk assessments, regulatory change management, initiative management, establishment and implementation of policies and procedures, compliance issue management, metrics and reporting.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Administer maintenance and/or creation of requisite CRE and WCo regulatory compliance framework inclusive of but not limited to risk assessment, policy, procedure, and reporting
  • Provide oversight to CRE risk programs and assist as assigned in closing gaps by either evaluating existing (or creating new) programs, policies and procedures
  • Participate in compliance related project, strategies, methodologies and analyses representing CRE and WCo
  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of CRE policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls as they relate to regulatory compliance
  • Evaluate business processes for alignment with applicable regulatory requirements for CRE and WCo
  • Foster an environment that supports strong communication and cooperation across the three lines of defense, including business line leadership, Legal, Audit, Compliance and other corporate stakeholders to facilitate transparency, balance and credible challenge
  • Sustain a strong risk culture that identifies and provides oversight and escalation of existing and emerging compliance issues across business lines, legal entities, geographies, and jurisdictions; and escalate compliance issues to senior Compliance management

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 6+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

Other Desired Qualifications
  • At least 5 years’ experience with commercial/wholesale bank/division, regulatory agency, law department/firm, compliance, auditing or consulting firm
  • Experience reviewing, interpreting, understanding and consulting around unfamiliar policies, procedures and/or regulations
  • Operational risk experience, business operations, and processes and systems controls experience across a variety of complex financial services related businesses
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance requirements surrounding banking and lending business and consumer-lending or deposit laws and regulations and other applicable Federal Reserve and OCC laws and regulations 
  • Experience in building/designing a control infrastructure through policies, procedures, guidance documents, and training development
  • Business Process Management (BPM) Experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities

Salary Information

The salary range displayed below is based on a Full-time 40 hour a week schedule.
