Responsible for planning and crafting new software and web applications. Analyzes, tests, and assists with the integration of new applications. Coordinates the documentation of all development activity. Trains non-technical personnel. Assists with supervising performance metrics. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. -Collaborates with project partners to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to settle integration needs.
-Crafts new software and web applications, supports applications under development, and customizes current applications. Develops software update process for existing applications. Assists in the roll-out of software releases.
-Trains junior Software Development Engineers on internally developed software applications.
-Is responsible for the researching, writing, and editing of documentation and technical requirements, including evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports.
-Operating Systems & Application administration responsibilities: Analyzes log files for errors and takes corrective action. Proficient with at least two of Linux, Windows Server, HP-UX, Solaris, AIX. Troubleshoots operating system and application issues. Monitors and is responsible for performance and tuning of servers; applies policy for system security, software package, and patch management.
-Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates driven applications and products. Reviews literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
-Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and mentorship with regards to practices, procedures, and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior level Software Development Engineers.
-Assists in supervising and evaluating performance metrics. Ensures team delivers software on time, to specification, and within budget.
-Displays expertise in knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, and skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
-Displays expertise in process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design, and technical choices to internal audiences.
-Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
-Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as vital.
-Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
We are looking for an individual who can administrator/developer enterprise level monitoring tools. These tools include both commercial off the shelf (COTS applications like AppDynamics and Micro Focus APM) as well as opensource tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.). The will maintain and innovate these platforms and provide streamlined customer support.
-7+ years of experience in a DevOps role
-Experience with one or more of the following Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Alerta, Microfocus APM, AppDynamics etc.)
-Experience solving application issues (viewing logs, performing network connectivity tests, researching issues as reported by customers)
-Experience with writing documentation for operational support of the platforms you lead, as well as customer facing documentation
-Experience in administering Linux
-2-3 years of Python development
Nice to Haves:
-Experience with MongoDB administration
-Experience with GitHub as part of your development pipeline
-Experience developing synthetic user transactions for monitoring
-Experience with monitoring applications built on cloud technologies (Open Stack, Cloud Foundry, etc.)
-Familiarity interacting with APIs to push and/or retrieve data
-Bachelors Degree or Equivalent inEngineering, Computer Science
-Generally requires 7-11 years related experience
