Here at Optum, our Technology development team is looking for an experienced Delivery Lead who can build and lead a team of full-stack engineers with an insatiable appetite for continuous improvement and innovation. We are looking for a DevOps missionary to take software concepts from paper to production and beyond in order to drive excellent customer support in production for an always-on suite of products with a global user base.


The successful candidate will be a servant leader who develops and supports a learning organization model through coaching, training, and mentorship. The successful candidate will be one that can adapt as necessary for unintended consequences of this change initiative and one that understands the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team.


The Delivery Lead will partner with Business, Technical and Program Owners to manage project commitments in an agile framework, while rapidly delivering value to our customers via technology solutions. A high level of collaboration with leaders across partner-teams will be essential in this role in order to drive cohesive and optimal solutions.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written forms, and be able to preset and demonstrate work to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Continue the advancement of leveraging Agile Processes and Acceptance Test Driven Development
  • Manage forecasts and budgets from multiple funding sources for engineering team demands.
  • Solves complex problems and is able to translate high level concepts into scalable technical solutions
  • Recruit and lead a team of full-stack engineers, driving career development and owning standard resource manager responsibilities.
  • Mentor the engineering team to develop and perform as highly as possible.
  • Authorize deviations from standards
  • Provide technical and team leadership through coaching, collaboration and mentorship
  • Participate in project roadmap prioritization
  • Serve as a leader and mentor for our program
  • People management responsibilities are possible in the future

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience with languages such as Java, JavaScript, C#, or other object-oriented language
  • Previous IT leadership experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Deep agile development experience with a strong DevOps mindset
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation
  • Ability to understand how to navigate in a complex organization, understand the big picture, and influence the enterprise to leverage technology that is in alignment with our strategies.
